The Olympic Flame on the airwaves – II3OLYM

To mark the 2026 Winter Olympics, our colleagues at the Dolomites Radio Club (DRC) are bringing a special highlight to the airwaves: the special call sign II3OLYM.

From 6 February to 15 March 2026, the DRC will be covering the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Italy. A particular focus will be on South Tyrol, where all the biathlon contests will take place in the Antholz Valley.

The special call sign II3OLYM connects the global amateur radio community with this major sporting event in the Dolomites.

The team will be active on all standard bands from shortwave to SHF. In addition to traditional modes such as SSB and CW, digital modes such as FT8 and FT4 will also be used.

Confirmations are issued exclusively digitally via eQSL, and the contacts can also count towards the ‘Alpine Flower Award’. The DRC looks forward to lively participation and exciting pile-ups.
