Activity in Europe was high as always – more than 500 logs were uploaded to the IARU server. With only 15 logs, there were fewer participants in Switzerland than last year. Perhaps this was also due to the rather average conditions. A few band openings were recorded, There were no major highlights or so-called double HOP connections over 3000 km – at least for Switzerland. Results H26 Contest VHF On July 6 and 7, 2024, the H26 contest VHF took place again on the bands 145 MHz to 122 GHz. The weather – especially on Saturday – probably prevented some stations from participating. The field of participants on the frequencies below 1 GHz is correspondingly “thin”. It is nice to see that in the microwave range, in addition to the loyal GHz specialists (HB9ABN, HB9BAT and HB9MDP) there are also a few more logs in the mailbox (HB9AZN, HB9LB and HB9W). As in previous years, the center of activity in Switzerland was in western Switzerland. The number of participants was very low this year, and the OPs also had to contend with adverse weather conditions. HB9TV/p (with HB9AZN and HB9HWF) had set off for the Chassral (VD) site, but was unable to set up the equipment safely due to strong winds. It is called the “IARU HF World Championship”, lasts 24 hours and begins on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 2 p.m. Swiss summer time. The USKA will be taking part as the national association for Switzerland with station HB9HQ. In addition to Rapport 59(9), the other 160-plus national associations of the IARU (International Amateur Radio Union) will also send an acronym of the society such as “DARC”, “ARRL”, “JARL”, while the members of the board and supervisory board will add their respective represented region such as “R1” (e.g. for HB9JOE as treasurer), “R2”, “R3” or “AC”.
