ARISS: Medical emergency on the ISS
The spacewalk on the International Space Station (ISS) scheduled for yesterday, 8 January 2026, was cancelled at short notice due to a medical emergency involving a crew member.
According to Amsat-HB Switzerland, this unforeseen change of plan also means that amateur radio operations will be adjusted. The reactivation of the ARISS stations is not a priority at present and will take place at a later, appropriate time.
Exact details regarding the crew member’s state of health have not been disclosed for privacy reasons. We wish the crew member concerned a speedy and full recovery.
