Reminder: Emergency Radio Conference on 10 October 2026

Rack Community Radio

Next Saturday is the big day: the USKA invites you to the EmComm Conference 2026 in Brütten. For the first time, the conference is specifically aimed at representatives from public authorities and emergency services.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Government Sector: Dominik Schwerzmann, HB3YQP, Head of the Office for Civil Protection, Civil Defence and Military Affairs of the Canton of Zug, reports on practical examples of cooperation between government authorities and radio amateurs.
  • The ‘last mile’: On display is a specially designed emergency radio rack that integrates public access radio systems such as CB radio and PMR-446 into the operational concept (see picture).
  • Morning: Technical presentations for radio amateurs on current transmission methods.
  • Afternoon: Practical exercises outdoors using Winlink-2000 via shortwave and VHF, digital MESH networks via AREDN, and voice communications via regional VHF and UHF repeaters.
  • For members of the local authority: Guided tour of the Brütten emergency radio container.
Equipment: Various sections and emergency radio teams will be demonstrating their mobile equipment.

The conference offers an opportunity to network and discuss operational scenarios in a realistic manner. Emergency radio forms a structured link for civil protection in the event of an emergency, and this conference aims to demonstrate that.

We look forward to seeing you!
