Ham Radio – A get-together amongst friends
For three days, the international amateur radio community gathered at Ham Radio in Friedrichshafen. For the Swiss YLs and OM, the weekend of 26 to 28 June 2026 was all about networking: meeting old friends and making new contacts were the highlights at the USKA stand.
The focus was on face-to-face interaction. Many radio enthusiasts who had travelled to the event took the opportunity to engage in in-depth technical discussions and catch up with existing contacts. “Having a chat in person here in the halls is really something very special, especially when you usually only meet via the transceiver,” remarked a Swiss visitor on Saturday evening.
Toasting the ham spirit
Among the highlights of the exhibition programme were the traditional drinks receptions at the USKA stand, which took place on Friday and Saturday (pictured: drinks reception on Saturday). The response was overwhelming at both events: on each occasion, around 200 guests raised a glass to the ham spirit.
Given the high temperatures over the weekend, visitors reached for one refreshment in particular alongside wine, orange juice and nibbles: plenty of water. The on-site logistics ran smoothly and provided the perfect setting for casual conversation.
An all-round successful fair
After three intensive days at the fair, the overall verdict is positive. A big thank you goes to all the participants who brought the event to life. At the same time, the efforts of the fair’s organisers deserve recognition: a huge compliment goes to those in charge in Friedrichshafen for organising yet another thoroughly successful Ham Radio.
