Football World Cup: Scot plays for Switzerland
Running alongside the Football World Cup in North America is the ‘DX-World’s Cup 2026’.
In this global companion event to the Football World Cup, the ‘DX-World’s Cup 2026’, the fate of the radio stations is directly linked to the performance of the teams on the pitch.
Before the tournament, 48 radio amateurs were drawn at random from the DX-World readership. Each of these call signs represents one of the 48 national teams. If a team is knocked out of the real tournament, the assigned call sign is also eliminated from the standings.
GM5RDX on air
A Scottish station is holding the fort for Switzerland: Eric, GM5RDX, was drawn to represent the Swiss team. As the Swiss national team is still in the running, the Scottish station remains in the running too.
The HB community is therefore following the upcoming matches with an eye on maintaining its position in the global DX rankings and wishes the Swiss national football team the best of luck and GM5RDX ‘Good DX’.
