FACB invites you to an open day in Liestal
The Basel Radio Amateur Club (FACB) is transforming the SSA Sichern into a hub for radio amateurs and those simply curious about the subject.
Anyone who thinks radio technology is a dusty relic from the last century is very much mistaken. The fascination with wireless communication continues to captivate people of all ages. The Basel Radio Amateur Club (FACB) will provide a perfect example of this on Sunday, 30 August 2026. From 10 am to 4 pm, club members will open the doors of the SSA Sichern in Liestal for an open day packed with activities.
Live operations
The organisers are focusing entirely on hands-on experience. Radio amateurs and guests with a passion for technology can watch live radio operations up close, pick up microphones and soak up the atmosphere. The Swiss CB Organisation (SCBO) will also be present, and the Lutz-Electronics stand is sure to set the hearts of tech fans racing.
Happy Radio Basel on site
Another crowd-puller will be the mobile studio from Happy Radio Basel. The radio presenters from the DAB+ station will be broadcasting live from the festival grounds via a link through the Chrischona transmitter and fulfilling visitors’ music requests right there on site.
Direction finding and soldering
“We want to make radio tangible,” says a member of the organising committee. This applies particularly to the younger generation. The radio enthusiasts of tomorrow will hunt for hidden beacons using receivers on a treasure hunt or assemble their very first souvenir at the soldering station. Those who prefer to hunt for treasures from the second-hand shop or spare parts will find what they’re looking for at the car boot sale.
A wide range of culinary delights
Very importantly: no one has to spend the day on an empty stomach. The catering team is pulling out all the stops with risotto, chips and barbecued meats, accompanied by chilled drinks and a generous cake buffet.
The logistics are sorted. Motorists can use the free car parks right on site. Those travelling by train can conveniently transfer to the free shuttle bus at Liestal station, which takes festival-goers straight to the venue.
