USKA employee excursion 2025

USKA staff outing 2025 – technology, strategy and community in Glarnerland

On Saturday, 3 May 2025, 18 members of the USKA Board of Directors and its employees met at 11:00 a.m. at the Linth-Limmern (KLL) power plant in Tierfed near Linthal (GL) for this year’s employee outing.

The day started in the seminar room of the Hotel Tödi, where the President presented various topics – including the tasks of the USKA, the importance of cooperation with Swiss authorities and the IARU as well as the focal points of the new USKA Strategy 2024-2029. The content provided exciting insights into the current developments of the association.

Afterwards, a delicious lunch was served in the hotel restaurant – with meat or vegetarian options to suit every taste.

In the afternoon, the technical highlight was on the programme: a tour of the Linth-Limmern pumped storage plant. This Axpo flagship project pumps water from Lake Limmern (1,857 metres above sea level) into Lake Mutt, 630 metres above sea level – a masterpiece of energy technology that can be used to generate electricity when needed. In two groups, expert guides led us through the imposing machine and transformer caverns and gave an impressive explanation of how the plant works.

A successful day that focussed on knowledge, exchange and team spirit – all in the spirit of USKA!
