Brief report on the Relay Operators (SysOps) Conference on 15 November 2025 in Aarau

On Saturday, 15 November 2025, the Relay Operators (SysOps) Conference took place in Aarau under the leadership of our President Bernard HB9ALH.

Renato HB9BXQ presented the complexity of frequency planning with the corresponding business use cases (BUC). He also discussed current frequency planning and the next steps regarding a central database in which relay operators (SysOps) can independently maintain some of their relay data.
Bernard HB9ALH announced that we, as radio amateurs, are now responsible for frequency allocation in our 2m, 70cm and 23cm bands. He explained the points in accordance with a discussion with OFCOM and two articles of the FMG.
Roman HB9XBK used maps to show how diverse the data to be managed is in many radio matters and services.
Martin HB9RCJ presented how frequency coordination is managed in the border triangle in Basel for Switzerland, France and Germany. He proposed that corresponding coordination regions for the neighbouring countries of France, Germany, Austria and Italy be created in approximately four Swiss regions.
In the afternoon, Urs HB9BKT provided information on the current situation in the 23 cm band in accordance with CEPT EDD Decision (25)01.
Four working groups were then set up to work on the database, relay management, web presentation and additional points, which were presented in a short presentation.
