HST 2025 – 17.10.2025 (Day 3)

21st IARU High Speed Telegraphy World Championships 2025

17 October 2025, Day 3

Friday began at 9 a.m. for the participants with the following disciplines:

HB9CSA started by recording and writing down groups of five. This discipline, which is rather unpopular among radio amateurs, is part of the HST World Championships, just as compulsory figures used to be in figure skating. Walter (HB9AGA) battled his way through the Morse Runner contest simulation programme and achieved a solid 1357 points. Christoph (HB9AJP) worked intensively on listening to call signs and the RUFZXP software from DL4MM. In his best attempt, he achieved a good top speed of 216 letters per minute (Paris).

While HB9AGA and HB9AJP were able to complete their competitions after a few minutes, it took HB9CSA almost 4 hours to type all their notes into the PC.

In the afternoon, HB9AGA continued with keying, HB9AJP with receiving and HB9CSA with Morse Runner from 3 p.m. onwards. After a weak first attempt, HB9CSA improved greatly in the second attempt and achieved a surprising third place. Thanks to this result, he can also look forward to a third place overall in the men’s over-50 age group this year.

On Saturday, the traditional excursions and various medal ceremonies will take place.

I will continue to report.

Warm regards and vy73 from Montenegro.
