“BLUE HAM” radio exercise in the 60 m band, June 17 – 21, 2024
The “Blue Ham” radio exercise is carried out two to three times a year by the RAF Air Cadets (RAFAC) on the 5 MHz band allocated secondarily to amateur radio. The military are primary users of the 60m band, so they must not be disturbed! German radio amateurs are not permitted to make contact with the British cadets or to make QSOs. The cadet stations call out “alpha charlie, alpha charlie, alpha charlie, this is…”, followed by the callsign assigned to them. These correspond to the form MRExxx for the RAFAC and MFJxxx for the sea cadets, e.g. MRE21, MRE77A, MFJ0
